Season Finale Weekend Recap

MSDRS traveled to Brainerd for the 2nd weekend of racing their this season. What a great weekend for racing. Mid 20's to low 30's both days made it almost a shame that the season was coming to a end. After a season of what seemed like a endless run of sub zero weekends we all needed last weekend. Many of the class points battles were not settled until Sundays races were completed. Several classes had points so close that it made for some tough decision making by the tuners on various teams involved.

Kruger Vintage World Finals Feb 9th and 10th Weekend Racap

Saturday morning greeted racers to moderate snowfall and mid 20's for temps. But it wouldn't last long as the weatherman was right for a change. As race time aproached the temps began to fall and the predicted wind began to blow. By the time the first heats began there were moments of near whiteout conditions. The MSDRS staff did a great job of keeping the timing system operational. Snowdust is the biggest nuisance to the timing system. as the day progressed the snow ended and the sun began to peek out but it didn't keep the temps from dropping. By the days end actual air temp was near 0 and windchills approached -20. It didn't stop nearly 150 entries from racing thoughout the day though. There was some very closely contested classes including 2 New Mod Stock 440 Champions. Josh Erdman bested the 10 sled  field and Claimed the Mod-Stock 440 Free Air Class which netted him a cool $425 payday and Jonathen Letzkow finished on top of the 12 sled field of Mod-Stock 440 Liquid sleds along with $440. Both left with the 4' tall traveling Tracy Kruger Memorial trophies to display on their mantles until next years Vintage World Finals. This years event had over $3500 in total payout making it one of the richest purses on Vintage Drag Racing. Results can be viewed Here.

Sunday was a day for only the hardcore of hardcore racers the morning air temp was -11 and windgusts aproaching 30mph made for a bitter cold day.  The high for the day ended up at -4 but the winds eased up around noon and the race went off as scheduled. The sleds ran very well throughout the day with some very impressive E.T's to those that had given their machine a good dose of fuel as the word for the day was lean, lean, lean! With only 63 entries the day went rather quick but the racing was still hot as always! Results are posted here

Races Rescheduled for February 2nd & 3rd

The  races scheduled for last weekend are going to be made up on Super Bowl weekend at Ernie's on Gull Lake in Brainerd. After a -22 degree start to Sunday a decision was made, that in the interest of everyones safety and the potential for damage to the wire in the timing system, that the race for Sunday would have to be rescheduled. As a result we will try to make up both lost days of racing on the 2nd & 3rd. Hopefully we can get Mother Nature to give us a few nice weekends in a row now so that we can all just go race and not have to reschedule any more events the rest of this season. February will be a busy month so take this upcoming weekend and get those sleds Dialed in. We apologize to all that came last weekend  but hope you all understand the reasoning behind the decision that was made. Check the message forum for room deals at the AmericInn in Brainerd.

Clay Nueman to be Inducted to SHOF

As many of you may know, we lost Clay Neuman, a long time member of the MSDRS racing Community this past September. What some probably have not heard or read about is that prior to his death Clay learned that he was selected as a 2008 inductee to the Snowmobile Hall of Fame. A honor only given to a very select few people in Snowmobiling. To read more about his induction please follow the link   Clay Neuman SHOF Induction

To all of our Friends and Family at MSDRS,

With your generous donation you made to out Relay for Life team, we were able to raise over $7,100 towards Cancer Research!! The event was a wonderful, yet sobering night as we learned that although many strides are being made toward winning the battle with cancer, too many people are still being lost to this disease. We are hoping that through our efforts, that Mom's memory will be alive , even if she is just with us in Spirit.

We are Very Proud to announce that due th MSDRS's wonderful donation of $1000, and because we made our goal prior to the event, Mom will be permanently memorialized on a Parton Leaf at the American Cancer Society's regional office in Memdota Heights. This is a huge honor and one that we are very proud about. Due to the generosity of our race organization and it's members, Mom will be forever remembered.

On behalf of our Mom, Bev Neuman, and our Relay Team - Beverly's Hillbillies, we thank you with all our hearts.

Love,
Loyd Neuman - Carol, Joe, Aaron and Danny Eenhuis - Rick, Jody and Tori Kangas
